Yesterday, Microsoft showcased a ton of upcoming games, DLC, and expansions and gave players a glimpse into the future of Xbox Series X and more importantly, the future of Xbox Game Pass.
Game Pass was front and center at this year’s E3 Showcase, and while some of the biggest announcements were for games that won’t release until next year, the only constant throughout the show was a simple chorus: Day 1 available on Xbox Game Pass.
After all, Xbox Series X is just a piece of hardware. Game Pass is the future.
Here are all the biggest announcements, trailers, and other benefits from the Microsoft / Bethesda E3 Showcase, although it really should be called the Xbox Game Pass Showcase if we’re honest.
Starfield has a trailer
The long awaited space RPG Starfield finally got a real breakthrough. Bethesda has been teasing fans for years about this game, and now we have a release date, November 11, 2022, and a kind of boring cinematic trailer to, uh, mark the excitement. . . six?
The great news, but not particularly surprising, is that Starfield will come to Xbox Series X | S and PC, but not PS5. This is an exclusive console. Why else would Microsoft pay $ 7 billion for the Bethesda acquisition?
STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl also has a trailer
I’m absolutely excited about that open world survival shooter STALKER it’s finally getting a proper sequel that isn’t some weird Kickstarter scam. But man was this weirdly long and weirdly full of dialogue trailer. A 45-second gameplay trailer with some narration would have been much better for a reveal. Oh good. This is also scheduled for release in 2022 and is, at least for now, exclusive to the Xbox Series X console | Yes, although it will also be released for PC via Steam and the Epic Game Store.
Back 4 Blood Trailer + Game Pass
If you are spotting a trend, you are not wrong. The Showcase consisted mostly of game trailers, some cinematic, some gameplay. There was very little barking and tongue flicking, which I’m perfectly fine with. Show us the games! The Left 4 Dead spiritual successor seems like a good bloody co-op fun.
From Avalanche, the creators of Just cause, comes from Smuggling-An open-world oc-op game set in a fictional version of the ’70s, not that this trailer really gives us anything to build on.
The Ascent is a cooperative cyberpunk shooter
It actually looks pretty sweet. Day 1 on Game Pass and coming soon – July 29!
Sea Of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life Won’t Let Jack Sparrow Die
This trailer of Sea Of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life It made me think of two things in quick succession. First, “Wow, it looks like he’s improved a lot since launch, I should give it a try” and second, “Oh, they’re bringing Jack Sparrow in for a Pirates of the Caribbean crossover. I’m out.” It may feel different.
Battlefield 2042 Gets Gameplay Trailer
It’s not as impressive as the reveal trailer; It honestly seems a bit too busy and overwhelming for my liking, but I’m more of a Call of Duty guy myself, but it’s still an exciting enough trailer. I like the near-future concept and I’m glad we’re ditching historic Battlefield for now, especially since all the signs point to a WWII Call of Duty this year.
Groundhog Day but with murder. Basically.
The latest from Double Fine looks quirky, colorful, and unnerving, and I’m fine with this. It’s out August 25 for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X and you guessed it … day one of Game Pass.
Halo Infinite gets free multiplayer and a fake Cortana
Infinite halo it continues to excite and worry me for various reasons. Multiplayer will be free, which is probably A) good for a wider player base and the whole Battle Pass / Games-as-a-service thing and B) bad in terms of cheats, hackers, and other nonsense.
Then there’s the fake Cortana, which appears to have been built from Minecraft blocks:
Diablo II Resurrected Gets Release Date
September 23. PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S but also PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch. Oh yeah.
Slime Rancher 2 (I almost said Slime Ranger, which sounds even better) It looks prettier this time
Shredders looks like a fun snowboarding game
Hades comes to Game Pass
On August 13, one of the best action roguelike games ever made is coming to Xbox Game Pass and to consoles in general. Hell yeah!
The atomic heart looks magnificent
Alternate history 1955 USSR with very very nice graphics and I still have no idea what this game is about after seeing this trailer, but I really want to play it. A kind of bioshockesque.
Replaced will arrive on Game Pass in 2022
This looks great, but is it Geralt of Rivia in this video thumbnail? He looks a bit like our friend Witcher, so toss him a coin, right?
The Outer Worlds 2 wins the smartest trailer award
What a beautiful parody of video game trailers! I thought The outer worlds It was kind of a swing-and-miss when it comes to sci-fi RPGs, but I’m hopeful the sequel will enhance the game’s clear potential.
Age Of Empires IV looks amazing
October 28 on PC, Game Pass Day 1. Build armies and settlements and prepare for a glorious battle. This looks absolutely cool.
Microsoft Flight Simulator comes to Xbox Series X and it’s so pretty
Microsoft’s insanely beautiful and ridiculously realistic flight sim is heading to XSX on July 27 and you know the drill: Game Pass. Apparently it will somehow have “the same level of depth and complexity” as the PC version. And he’s crossing paths with the (probably) discouraged Top Gun: Maverick sequel no one actually asked for. Still, the fighter jets in Microsoft Flight Simulator can only make the game that much better. I’m totally for it.
Forza Horizon 5 arrives in Mexico
I love Mexico. I hate driving in Mexico. Fortunately, in Forza Horizon 5 I can race cars, trucks, and a ton of different vehicles through the deserts, beaches, and jungles of our southern neighbor without being stopped. police. I notice this only because I drove to Mexico earlier this year and got pulled over three times in the first 20 minutes and I’m still a bit bitter. Paying the police is not one of my favorite experiences. Anyway, this looks fantastic. The Forza Horizon games are some of my all-time favorite racing games that aren’t called Mario Kart and this looks tremendous.
And so we come to the end of our little recap … with a final game …
Redfall is Arkane’s new cooperative vampire shooter
The final game announced during the Showcase is Redfall From creators of Dishonor. Arkane is a great studio and I’m very excited about this game, but there is no game in the previous trailer so it’s a bummer. Still, the cutscenes are a lot of fun and I’m excited for another co-op game. We’re getting a lot of those lately, right? You can also play this solo, which is good. Sumer 2022. Also Game Pass Day 1.
Oh, and Microsoft is releasing the Xbox Series X mini fridge because memes are now a reality and reality is now a meme (or something like that).
In fact, I already own one of these thanks to Microsoft’s partnership with The Rock’s ZOA energy drinks and it keeps my drinks cool for me in my office like a champ.
What Xbox titles are you looking forward to the most? Let me know!
